Strangler fig in the forest on the way to the Gunung Api mountain and the pinnacles.

Ball centipede.

Very strange little animal...

Halfway up the mountain we started to see weird sharp limestone formations sticking up in the forest.

The path to climb Gunung Api.

The mysterious limestone pinnacles sticking up from the fog on top Gunung Api.

These ghostly megalithic rocks are somehow sculpted by the heavy Borneo rains over thousands and thousands of years.

Some of these razorsharp rocks are 50 meters high.

Incredibly unreal place..

Edel resting after the steep climb up the mountain.

Michael from the Penan people, our guide on the trek.

View down from near the top of Gunung Api.

The climb to the top was pretty steep...

Climbing down in the fog and the rain.

Strange spiky insects sitting right on the path on the way down.

View from the basecamp at the foot of Gunung Api. The mountain in the photo is Gunung Benarat.
