My place might have been a little bit messy at the time...
Best thing about Leiden: tons of places you can sit outside by the canal to eat/drink/read/sleep..
Canals and windmills. Everywhere.
Cold beer in the sun in Amsterdam. Amsterdam's great for sitting somewhere with a beer watching all the strange people pass by on the street.
More Amsterdam. Very much Amsterdam. Notice the very artistic fallos fountain to the right with the two rotating... round things.

More Jazzcafe the Duke. I'm pretty sure I spent more waking hours in here than in my apartment during the first Leiden-year (see photos of apartment above as to why..).

Ocean of bikes outside the Leiden station. The station-house actually looks like that..not under construction or anything.. Can be quicker to buy a bike for 5 guilder from one of the homeless patrolling this bike-ocean for unlocked bikes than trying to find your own...especially if you just got back from Amsterdam and the memory of where you put your bike is a little blurry..
I regret I never lived in one of these house-boats in Holland. Would have been a nice hippie thing to do.
